- Time Attack Mode
- Level and Title
Story Mode
In this game mode, players can experience the whole 100-episode story of the original Wangan Midnight comic, racing alongside characters from the series.
By tuning your car as you progress through the story, you can upgrade your power and handling.
In addition, one of the features of this game is "Tuning" Being able to tune your car is a feature of Story Mode.
Acquire Tuning Points by winning against the original comic characters in the Story Mode. Perform Tuning when you've filled up your point bar.
There are two types of tuning: 1: Power, which increases the car's maximum speed and its ability to accelerate.
2: Handling, which increases the car's ability to turn corners. You can create your own unique car with its unique performance style.
- A BANAPASSPORT Card is needed to play using saved Tuning Data.
The Tuning Gauge obtained after Episode 21 lets players adjust settings before a race (available in all game modes).
Tuning in Story Mode goes up to 600 horsepower until Episode 20 is cleared, up to 800 horsepower until Episode 50 is cleared, and maxes out at 840 horsepower after Episode 80 is cleared.
Versus Battle Mode
Players in the same arcade can race against each other.
If a player selects YES for "Accept VS" when an opponent requests a battle during gameplay, that player can play against other players at the same location.
Accept VS must be selected upon entry for players to enter another player's game. Even if a challenger has been rejected, by pressing the Accept/Reject VS button, a player can switch back to seeking opponents again.
The racing area will be decided by majority vote.
Select "Random" to determine a racing area randomly.
There are some branching points on the courses. Just before the branching points, a panel where you can select which path to take will be displayed. The player in first place at that point decides the course for all players by selecting it from the panel.
Collecting "VS Medals" will increase your "VS Ranking".
Online Ghost Versus Battle Mode
Online Ghost Versus Battle Mode is a mode where you use your "ghost" to race.
A ghost is created by an actual player racing in Ghost Versus Battle Mode. The ghost memorizes the player's driving style and mimics it.The "ghost" is not really a ghost—it has a material form so you can run into it during the race.
Since it reflects the player's skill and driving style, you can enjoy the experience of racing an actual player.
- You cannot play the Online Ghost Versus Battle Mode if you are not using a BANAPASSPORT Card.
Regardless of whether or not the challenging opponent beats your ghost or not, a stamp will be delivered to you as proof of the battle, and when you challenge that opponent’s ghost, you’ll be able to acquire the delivered stamp.
When you come in first in the race, you will receive 1 bonus stamp.
Stamps can be stored on your stamp sheet, and once you earn a certain amount, you can obtain a title or new stamp design.
Conversely, if you challenge another player's ghost, you will send a stamp to your opponent.
Time Attack Mode
This game mode allows players to compete for the best track time by driving on a course with no other cars.
Improve your personal best, and it will be displayed on the screen if it's within the top 100 for that vehicle type across the country.
If you rank in the top 1,000 nationally for a given course or vehicle type in Time Attack, you will be registered in the Wangan Navigator Companion App's Internet Ranking.
