Final Furlong 2 is the sequel to Final Furlong. The game features updated graphics, and uses the Namco System Super 23 arcade hardware.
The gameplay in Final Furlong 2 is the same as the original. Players sit on a fiberglass shaped horse, taking on the role of the jockey, and must "ride" the horse to victory. Players rock back & forth to speed up, and must pull the harness left or right to turn.
There is also a whip button to get the horse to spurt. The player selects a horse from the range available. Each horse has its own abilities, and the player must pace their horse accordingly.
