Sega Announces R&D Studios' Reorganization
SEGA CORPORATION resolved the R&D studios' reorganization plan at the meeting of the board of Directors held on July 30, 2003. They listed the purposes of the reorganisation which included to strengthen product marketability, create titles indispensible for future growth and to improve productivity.
Although Sega peviously announced that it would reorganise nine R&D studios to five, it concluded to reorganise nine to six and establish one holding company which will wholly own the R&D studios. The R&D studios will include WOW Works (tentative name) SEGA AM-2 Hitmaker Ltd., Amusement Vision Ltd., Sonicteam Ltd., Smilebit Corporation and Cinematic Online Games. The studios are scheduled to be merged, liquidated and rearranged on October 1 2003. We will bring you more information as it comes to us.
