When it comes to sourcing the latest technological developments and new services on offer to the burgeoning i-gaming sector, industry professionals would be hard pushed to find a more compelling proposition than the second annual European i-Gaming Congress & Expo (EiG). Taking place at the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos, Barcelona, Spain on 11-12 November, EiG 2003 will feature the biggest names in the business with exhibitors, at time of going to press, including Bell Med (Malta), Bingo Entertainment (Netherlands Antilles), Boss Media (Sweden), Cirsa Interactive (Spain), Chartwell Technology (Canada), Cryptologic (Canada), Gambling Federation (Canada), iGlobalMedia.com (Dominican Republic), Optical Mark Systems (UK), Payweb (Malta), and RealTime Gaming (USA).

"With such an illustrious list of specialist suppliers drawn from every corner of the globe all under one roof, EiG 2003 is simply a ‘must do' event for any professional involved in interactive, wireless, iTV and online sports betting," said Sue Schneider, CEO and President of co-organisers River City Group. "Whilst many suppliers of i-gaming services and equipment obviously have a very good online presence with fine examples of successful ventures and satisfied client rosters, there is no substitute for actually meeting with them face-to-face to find out what's on the horizon, discuss particular issues and determine individual solutions."

In addition to the exhibition component, EiG will feature presentations by more than 40 of the industry's leading authorities from 13 national territories. Congress speakers include, amongst others: Peter Dean, chairman of the Gaming Board for Great Britain; John Godfrey, chairman of the Alderney Gambling Control Commission; Derek P Cannon, gaming inspector with the Isle of Man Gaming Control Board; Kelly Moulton, CEO of Ritz Club London Online; Pieter Remmers, secretary/administrator of the European Association for the Study of Gambling; Peter Bertilsson, managing director of Boss Media; Warwick Bartlett, lead partner with Global Betting & Gaming Consultants; Richard Flint, director of betting & gaming at Sky Interactive; Matt Dacey, head of sport & gaming at O2; and Thibault Verbiest, attorney with the Ulys Law Firm.

The latest speakers joining the two-day conference programme are: Tom Miltonberger, Senior VP - Products, Quova; Gareth Wong, Business Development Manager, Opera Telecom; Phil Brown, Senior Corporate Manager, Leisure Team, Royal Bank of Scotland; and Chris Heldman, Head of Gaming, Google. A wide range of topics will be up for discussion as EiG incorporates cross-border issues, payment processing, emerging platforms such as iTV, the P2P model, money laundering counter-measures, the enactment and enforcement of anti-spam laws, regulatory updates from across Europe, a small jurisdictions update, a session on social responsibility issues, game development, applications and market development, marketing and advertising opportunities, content delivery and wide-ranging legal implications.

Delegates keen to learn more about payment solutions can take advantage of a full-day workshop on the subject. Taking place on 10 November, the pre-congress ‘PayDay' workshop will consist of an overview of the key issues, a focus on business perspectives, regulatory challenges, consumer focus and risk management. A joint venture between ATE Conferences and the River City Group, the 2003 EiG Congress & Expo is being sponsored by Cirsa Interactive, Jeffrey Green Russell, Playtech and Gateway Financial Services. Supporting associations include the Interactive Gaming, Gambling and Betting Association (iGGBA), the Interactive Gaming Council (IGC), International Masters of Gaming Law and the Mobile Entertainment Forum.
