At the start of this month Germany and Austria's top Photo Play players attended a workshop at the Austrian headquarters in Schörfling. The workshops were organised by Photo Play's Games & Contents department to include a limited number of the best players to ensure the most accurate results. Peter Berger, head of the Games & Contents department said the meeting was a great success. "We were able to grant each individual player the time and attention required to enter into productive discussions," he said.
Peter Berger and his team are not the only ones who said the weekend was successful. The players were reluctant to leave the Photo Play terminals, Mr Berger said. "It was even difficult to get them to take in a meal at the buffet," he said.
The new online games, such as "Battle-Ship" and the possibility of playing live tournaments in real time at the online terminals were real bonuses for the players. "It was a fantastic weekend and I'd love to exchange my first prize for another day's playing here in Schörfling," said Lilly Willminger, who was the winner of the Battle-Ship tournament.
Christian Wittmann won first prize in the live tournament "Schnapsen," the typically Austrian card game, while the "Same Game" tournament was won by Michael Schlegel.
"Direct feedback provides the outstanding opportunity of integrating players' points of view into the games' development process," said Mr Berger. "And it's especially wonderful when so much pleasure and motivation comes back in return."
