Very Dangerous Theme Parks!
The sad events of the 5th of September saw the 10th guest to the Walt Disneyland resort killed by mechanical or operator failure due to a park ride, in its 48 years of operation. This was just the latest in a surprisingly long string of recent injuries and fatalities at major theme parks. It's true, but no defense, to argue that the number killed is only a tiny fraction of the millions or billions entertained each year! Consumers and governments are both asking sharp questions about safety – but is the industry responding vigorously enough?
