Need for Speed Coming to Coin-Op
Global VR announced today that the hugely popular EA Games™ driver is coming to coin-op. EA Games™ Need for Speed™ puts players in top high-performance cars such as the 450-horsepower Dodge Viper GTS, the nimble Lotus Elise, the BMW Z8 and the fastest production Corvette ever made, the Z06. With a mix of high-end American muscle and top European exotics, Need for Speed™ has cars that will appeal to all players.

Players will appreciate the amazing graphics of Need for Speed™, with remarkable car detail and state-of-the art special effects. Need for Speed™ features a player-selectable difficulty system that provides easier handling for beginning players and more challenging realistic driving physics for experienced drivers. The driving experience is further heightened with 6-speaker surround sound and force feedback steering. Need for Speed™ is also linkable, allowing blistering head-to-head competition for up to 4 players.

Company President Milind Bharvirkar commented on this release, "Operators have been asking for a driving cabinet that's available as a single unit and is accessible to the average player. With Need for Speed™, Global VR delivers this with the same creativity and dedication that brought our other products to the top of the earnings charts."

Need for Speed™ will also be the first driving game that is supported with regular updates and a national tournament system. The game ships in September, with a free update to follow in December. This update will add new exotic cars from manufacturers like Lamborghini, Porsche and Aston Martin, plus new tracks and play features. Also in December is the launch of Tournament Play for Need for Speed™ cabinets, which allows players to compete nationwide for cash prizes.

CVA's CEO Terry Farr, returned home jubilant from AMOA having signed an exclusive deal for the UK distribution of Need for Speed. Joe Nelson, GLOBAL VR's VP Corporate Development said, "these are new and exciting times for our industry and manufacturers and distributors need a modern and evolutionary approach to the way we do business, CVA has got it. When you have great products you need great distributors."

Back at his desk Farr commented, "CVA's favorite word is "evolution" supplying operators in the UK with the weapon to extend the lifetime of games is our Utopia! Need for Speed as a stand alone game is outstanding, but to add constant software up dates, and on-line tournament cash prizes takes it to the next level and sets it apart from other conventional disposable video games in the market. It maximizes the operators initial hardware investment and keeps it fresh and challenging. A driving tournament is what we have all been waiting for!"
