VirTra Systems Awarded US Army Project
VirTra Systems, Inc. this week announced it will develop a custom virtual reality experience for the United States Army recruiting command in Fort Knox, Kentucky. The experience, to be completed by year-end, will be used as a recruiting tool aimed at individuals within the Army's ideal socio-demographic profiles - young men and women who have grown up utilizing high-technology.
Lieutenant Colonel J. L. Davidson, commander of the Army Mission Support Battalion, commenting on the pending 2004 promotion, stated, "With our traveling assets, we provide fun and educational venues that not only allow America to experience and learn about the Army, and what job opportunities are available to soldiers, but bring the Army to the experience. We look forward to adding this new technology in our Adventure Vans as a way to do just that."
Featuring 360-degree head-tracking, stereo audio, time-triggered smells, wind, and vibration, the Army project's virtual reality experience will place the viewer in an Army helicopter performing a full-action simulated mission.
"Increasingly, Fortune 500 companies, and even the United States government, are utilizing our proprietary technology and incorporating virtual reality into a promotional forum," commented Tom Milks, VirTra Systems' director of advertising and promotional sales. "We are pleased to have been chosen for this project and will enjoy the challenge of working with the Army's representatives to produce a very high-tech and effective recruitment tool."
"Coming on the heels of our first training simulator sale, this project for the Army is particularly exciting," stated L. Kelly Jones, VirTra Systems' chief executive officer. "As we continue to deliver leading-edge technology to the training/simulation market, we also expect to build upon our industry-leading position in the advertising / promotional market."
