AWP Popular in Polish Amusement Market - Surexpo 2003
The second International Salon of Entertainment Devices And Technology as well as the Salon "Light, Sound & Stage" Surexpo was held in Hala Ludowa, Wroclaw from 10 to 12 October. The combination of these two shows seemed to be a very good idea and worth continuing in the future. AWP machines were undoubtedly the most popular, with most exhibitors and transactions coming from this segment.
The market is still in chaos after the last gaming act, but orders are starting to pick up after the lul in the market a few months ago. It is clear that most of the successful firms in the market at present specialise in gambling machines. The Polish company, GameSystem, won the award for the best stand at the exhibition.
Although the AWP machines dominated this years Surexpo - they weren't the only things worth seeing. The award for the best product at the show went to American Fantasy Entertainment for their automatic portrait machine - Portrait Studio, and the award for the best recreational and amusement product went to Safari Train from Spanish Falgas.
A number of stands displayed coin, banknote acceptors, and AWP spare parts including Comestero, Gambit, Vita, Suzo, MBS, ICT and Money Controls.
The side-shows during the exhibition ranged from the soccer table tournament, a record breaking demonstration by billiard world champion Bogdan Wolkowski, laser shows, erotic dance shows, and even some contests at the Polish Records and Curiousities booth. A meeting of the Polish Chamber of Manufacturers and Operators took place on the second day of the show.
110 companies from 15 countries took part in the exhibition with about 6000 people visiting during the show. Although only 90 companies related to the amusement trade exhibited, even then this number of exhibitors is the largest recorded in years.
Surexpo organiser, Witold Malinowski said that due to the success of the show this year - more space might be needed for the show next year, "Maybe I'm too much of an optimist but I think that next year between 8 and 10 October, when we will be in the EU we will have to get some extra space."
