F-ZERO Drives Players into Arcades
Sega Amusements Europe Ltd have released the long awaited F-ZERO AX, a driving game where players race through an exhilarating 26th Century Sci Fi world at a heart pounding 2000km per hour. F-ZERO AX is an unbelievably realistic experience set in an alien world with intense and mind-boggling cut-scenes. F-ZERO AX is the latest collaboration of Nintendo and Sega, based on the super powerful Triforce system, made especially for speed junkies of all ages.
F-Zero AX is adaptable to a specialised large-scale moving Deluxe cabinet that allows players to climb into a cockpit and experience the sensation of high-speed flight. The feeling of control offered by this unique steering set-up and awesome graphic power combine to achieve an amazing level of immersion and exhilaration. There will also be a twin non-moving sit down cabinet available. The game is linkable for up to 4 players.
In a unique move to promote arcade business to consumer players, players can use Nintendo Game Cube's memory card with this arcade machine to link the data that they create at home with the data that they create in an arcade, to race their custom machines, earn new parts, and unlock bonus features! The Nintendo Games Cube memory card can be inserted into a special port in this machine. Thus players are encouraged not only to play this game at home, but also to seek out their nearest arcade and play the game there as well.
Sega Amusements Europe Ltd – Sales Director – Paul Williams said, "This collaboration has resulted in a true evolution of the "F-ZERO" series. Not only have we enhanced the intense feeling of racing at such high speeds, but also we've expanded the F-ZERO world on a grand scale. Beyond that, we've also successfully implemented a link between play on the arcade unit and the Game Cube."
"We encourage everyone to head to their local arcade with their memory card and try it out," Mr Williams said.
Players who do not have a Nintendo Game Cube are not left out; they can use the Sega F-ZERO License Card system to create and develop their own racer and store the data. Once players customise their machine in the arcade, a playing card is dispensed from the machine, which stores all their data. This playing card can be collected and used time and time again so that players are continuously building on their previous scores
The game features two race modes; the first race mode is where a total of 30 machines will appear on the screen for players to race against. Additionally up to 4 players can race against each other in linked mode. The second race mode is the time attack mode where players try to score the best time by racing alone.
