Sega Amusements Europe has responded to pub operators requests for a compact video SWP cabinet with a new product, the Cash Cube cabinet - pictured. The success of the original Club Kart Prize and Shoot Out Pool in the Naomi Universal cabinet format was not enjoyed in pub locations due to access into the locations.

According to Sega Europe, operators wanted a cabinet that was slim enough to fit through doorways with a small footprint, easily upgradable by changing control panel and software, solid built in security, contemporary design, and house a payout mechanism at a low cost.

Sega have met all the requirements and more to produce a base cabinet for current and future SWP products. A great deal of effort has also been put into working with pub operators, landlords and breweries to get the product right.

The Cash Cube cabinet has been inundated with positive responses since its premiere at the London Preview in prototype form.

Sega's Justin Burke said, "The response was amazing with some operators trying to place orders, wanting immediate delivery and also non pub operators taking interest."

The positive feedback was constructive with the early pre-showing allowing further comment to be taken into consideration and the final design to be fine tuned before Cash Cube's official first showing at ATEI 2004 and release in February,

Sega aim to release at least one new SWP title every six months and with the ability to change the software whilst leaving the cabinet on site will improve flexibility, reduce transport cost, downtime and damage.

The early test income results on the prototype cabinet have been very strong, even surprising pub operators.

Tom Pugh who has tested the Cash Cube said, "Sega definitely have a hit on their hands, and importantly as it is designed to be regularly updated with new games it will have a long life ahead."
