Following a series of teaser advertisements JPM officially released its new Linear cabinet during the third week of November. Linear was designed in house by a combined team from the Birmingham and Cardiff offices.
Operations Director Brian Mitchell said, "It wasn't just an internal procedure as that can lead to what we think is right for the industry. We spent a lot of time and effort in consulting with Operators and Distributors to see exactly what was needed from an aesthetic and also practical viewpoint. The involvement of Hydra (now Fat Spanner) also gave us some very valuable external creative input."
According to JPM, Linear offers much more than being "just" a cabinet in which to house a game. The company said Linear's advanced features offer security, attraction, comfort, durability and serviceability to ensure longevity of cabinet aesthetics, ease of maintenance and the ability to ensure as much security as possible in the current environment.
Sales and Marketing Director Heath Samples said, "Gone are the days of the slab sided and frankly boring cabinets of old. The industry hasn't seen such a change since the days when buttons replaced handles and machines went into generic cabinets. We can now offer Operators flexibility due to the advanced lighting system that allows varied mixtures of RGB light to make any colour you would wish for."
"Complaints about machines becoming marked during transit and siting have been listened to and side panels made of a scratch resistant material that allows marks to be wiped away have been included in the design. Security wise we have ensured the cashbox is protected on all sides by a steel jacket and the siting of the coinmech will reduce jams and improve efficiency," Mr Samples said.
The new Linear Cabinet will be unveiled at ATEI 2004 and will feature a host of new games for Arcades, LBO's and Clubs.
