End of Era in Australia

End of Era in Australia
End of Era in Australia
The Leisure & Allied Australian sales flagship based at St Peters, Sydney, has closed down this week with all staff either relocated or made redundant.

On Wednesday 17 December, LAI auctioned off all amusement machines, test benches, spare parts and even chairs and tables from their offices and warehouse at Burrows Road. Whilst many people saw LAI as overpriced and sometimes greedy, they provided professional repair, knowledge and spare parts service to the Australian amusement industry which often took them for granted.

For the past few years, LAI has looked to expand its overseas operations, sometimes to the detriment of the Australian market. The recent announcement that LAI's former competitor, AMD, will be distributing its products in Australia has been met with surprise in the Australian amusement industry.

Although LAI's market share in Australia had eroded over the years, taking them from being the number one company in the Australian amusement industry to a small player - their leaving the Australian market will leave a void that will desperately need to be filled.

We wish to thank our friends at LAI for their support, help and friendship, and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
