The new legislation will allow the use of £25 all cash jackpot machines in arcades and deal with a number of other related issues. The legislation had been promised on a number of occasions in the past but ran into difficulties before being passed.
Southern operators are not so lucky as there is no indication that any action is likely in the short term that might bring their legislation into line with that in many EU countries with realistic, enlightened regulations.
Operators have learned to live with the 1956 regulations but say that the introduction of
modern legislation would boost the industry, protect existing jobs, create new employment, encourage investment and contribute more to the exchequer.
