Ecast Inc., America's leading digital music and games network, offered its congratulations to Leisurelink and Inspired Broadcast Networks on their recent success deploying jukeboxes based on their U.K. license of Ecast's Broadband Digital Media Platform.
Exhibiting for the first time at the ATEI show in London, Robbie Vann-Adibé, CEO of Ecast said, "It is exciting to have confirmation that the concepts and technology pioneered by Ecast in the United States are applicable in other parts of the world."
In 2000, Ecast licensed its Digital Media Platform in a deal that gave Leisurelink the rights to develop upon and deploy Ecast technology in the United Kingdom. Inspired was borne of the acquisition by Leisurelink of UK-based mobile content provider Poptext, a company of which Mr. Vann-Adibé was a co-founder and major shareholder.
The ITBox and Digital jukeboxes offered by Inspired in the UK are the very visible result of these transactions. Ecast's participation in the 2004 ATEI show is a prelude to the creation of a European Ecast entity.
"Ecast's platform was designed to be infinitely scalable and customizable for local markets. With the recent completion of a variety of major engineering and partnership initiatives, our Location-Based Broadband Entertainment NetworkTM concept is ready for the world stage," said Bob Cooney, VP of Global Marketing for Ecast.
"The combination of increased broadband deployment around the planet and Leisurelink's success confirms our belief that the Ecast platform is uniquely qualified to play in the global marketplace."
Ecast's intention in Europe is to replicate and extend its U.S. business model, which promotes multiple manufacturers building Ecast-powered devices for the entire operator community.
Ecast has been adopted as the digital music standard by U.S. jukebox manufacturers Rowe, Rock-Ola and NSM, who account for approximately 95% of all jukeboxes in operation in the United States. All three are currently deploying Ecast-powered digital jukeboxes.
Ecast's digital entertainment offering includes licensed content from Sony Music, Warner Music, BMG, EMI, Universal Music Group, Midway Games, Playboy Enterprises, and other leading entertainment companies.
Ecast is seeking both manufacturing and strategic partners in Europe. All inquiries should be directed to Robbie Vann-Adibé at
