Sydney's Luna Park to Re-open in April
Australia's Luna Park in Sydney is set to re-open its doors next month without the Big Dipper roller-coaster ride, the noise of which, had prompted legal action by residents - causing the closure of the amusement park eight years ago.

When it re-opens its doors on April 4, 2004, the fun park - originally established in the 1930's, will boast refurbished rides and the ability to host a variety of functions and events with its five main function venues - the Crystal Palace, the Big Top, the Big Dipper Room, the Taj Mahal Room and the Popcorn Hall. The function venues have been designed to cater for almost any corporate or private function.

Visitors will enjoy Luna Park's prior key rides and amusements, as well as some new additions. Amusements will include something for everyone - from the slides, rides and games of the Coney Island fun house, to the classic Luna Ferris Wheel and Carousel or the gentle Tumblebug ride, to Dodgem Cars and the Wild Mouse - originally built on site in 1959, which hurls along a 400 metre track in 61 seconds, 15 metres above the ground.

A new children's ride area and playground will also be developed to the north of Coney Island - with seating, shade cover and its own café/kiosk - set to be an attractive area for young families.

Luna Park management has said the new Luna Park will "Conserve the unique identity and heritage features of the Park, while providing a wide range of entertainment and social facilities for the people of Sydney and it's visitors."

Entry to Luna Park will be free of charge, for more information, visit the official website.
