Florida Tightens Controls on Arcade Amusement Centers
In Florida U.S. the Senate Committee on Business Regulation today recommended the act relating to amusement centers 849.161, F.S. be amended to tighten controls and restrictions on arcade amusement centers in relation to gambling. The Committee recommended the act be modified to revise provisions exempting certain amusement centers from the application of gambling regulations and restricting the use of points or coupons received by players in arcade amusement centers.
It recommended clarifying a reference whereby in relation to arcade amusement centers, local governments may establish or amend the zoning map designation of a parcel or parcels of land or change the actual list of permitted, conditional or prohibited uses within a zoning category. The Committee suggests local governments should have authorisation to limit arcade amusement centers hours of operation and the number of machines in such centers. The law would also prohibit gambling devices at arcade amusement centers, from a certain date.
