Photo Play Job-Quiz to Help Students Decide on Career

Photo Play worked together last autumn with teachers from the Polytechnic School in Schwanenstadt and employees of the public Job Service Centre (AMS) of Vöcklabruck, Upper Austria, to form interesting and playful questions for Photo Play's Job-Quiz. The Quiz is designed to help students gain an idea and understanding of the professions they may be interested in pursuing, and includes information on all essential criteria for each profession. Funworld set up the Job-Quiz alongside some of its most popular games on Photo Play terminals at nearby schools and at the Job Service Centre. Students were able to play the games at no charge for several months and Funworld said the feedback it received was positive. The Job-Quiz ranked much higher than any of the other games played, with 76 percent of the students opting to partake in this new game.

Last week an official presentation of the Job-Quiz was held before the Upper Austrian province school inspectors' president, Fritz Enzenhofer. The director of the Polytechnic School Schwanenstadt, Solon Petrowisch, said, "The initiative's target is to have a Photo Play touch screen terminal set up at as many schools as possible." He said the terminals supported students in their search for jobs and encouraged them to enjoy learning. The Polytechnic School Schwanenstadt initially came up with the idea for this project. Although game terminals are prohibited from being established at schools, according to Upper Austrian provincial law, a report conducted by a regional government inspector last autumn said Photo Play's terminals feature "a sensible utilisation of news recourses in this form of communicating knowledge." The report stated that from its point of view, "this case covers a very sensible application of new hard- and software whereby it is guaranteed by the teachers' monitoring of the situation that the games played are not games in the context of the Upper Austrian games terminal law's protective regulations."
