Taito's New Arcade System Available October
Taito has revealed its new arcade system, Type X, is due to be released in October 2004 along with approximately five to seven new titles. The system is based on Microsoft's Windows XP architecture and has been jointly developed by Taito and Toshiba Personal Computer System Corporation. Type X is set to feature a hard disk which stores the games, and a high-level security system to prevent the software from being copied. The system is flexible and its base PC technology allows it to be easily developed further in the future. The companies said the system allows for superior graphics and boasts a substantially lower production cost. They estimate 20,000 Type X systems will ship by the end of the year.
