Today stock in the 3D chip set manufacturer 3DFX dived 90% to 19cents.
The company who only recently closed its Mexican manufacturing plant in an effort to cut costs have now agreed to sell their remaining assets to competitor Nvidia for a reported US112 million. Their last quarter losses were US178 million on sales of 39.2 million.
This is bad news for its poor beleaguered shareholders and a sad day for the industry as a whole as 3DFX was the flagship of US excellence in 3Dchips used in many Midway and Atari games. Quantum 3D was a spin off 3DFX and their Graphite system also incorporates
these chip sets.
