Sega & Sammy Offer One-Stop Shop for Preview 2005!
Sega Amusements Europe and Sammy Europe will be joining forces at this years London Preview by taking the largest stand in the Chablis suite. The first joint European trade show for the merging companies, show organisers Howard & Wilkberg asked if Sega would be the anchor tenant by going into the new expanded show area. Both companies will be showing a total of 13 new products for the first time in the UK including the unveiling of a new Sega product, the title and format yet to be released. "With innovative video, SWP and kids games from Sega and the increasingly strong novelty and vending product from Sammy, the stand will clearly offer a one-stop shop with a diverse and innovative range of products that represents an opportunity for every operator," said Sega Chief Operating Officer Paul Williams. Sega has five new products that will premiere in the UK at Preview 2005. The first is Ghost Squad - pictured, its latest gun game, which, due to the Jamma show and word of mouth, has enabled Sega to presell the first production due in October. A second production run is due for November. The 50" two player deluxe game looks to break all bondaries of technology and game play. It includes a smart "player data" card concept that is the first for any gun game and hints at the future direction for video. Its multi tool recoil gun is also a major feature. Hot on the heels of Shoot out Pool Prize is Kick '4' Cash, the latest SWP from Sega in the successful CashCube cabinet. Both products are now available and will be on show. Mushiking that follows on from a huge craze in Japan will also be getting its first showing. The kids video vending game that has stormed Japan is set to begin in Europe. A departure from Sega's normal product, the game is aimed at kids and will target the retail sector as well as traditional amusement operations. Based on card trading and collecting it follows on from Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh but combines Sega video expertise. Sega are as yet remaining tight lipped about the other new releases but it is believed that one is the latest version of a classic Sega game brought up to date and including smart card technology. Equally secretive is the world premiere of a new product. Sega are not giving any details away and as yet there are no hints at the title or even the type of game. Initial D3 that was launched in July will also appear at this years Preview and follows on from the tremendous success of the first two instalments. The second production is now in full swing for both kits and dedicated twins. Sega's other current driver Out Run 2, that was launched at last years Preview, looks to become a classic of the future joining Sega Rally and Daytona. Out Run 2 is still selling strong and will also be on the stand at Preview 2005.
To complement such a new array of product, Sammy Europe will also have many new products. With new video games for its "Atomiswave" brand and its long awaited entrance into the vending market, it will make it the stand to visit this year. A new driver in a new cabinet, "Faster than Speed", has recorded excellent test income results and will offer operators a great low priced driver. The American street styled racing game is fully linkable and allows drivers the choice of 12 cars and various paint colours and features. The game is set-up so the more a player wins, the features available to them increase. Equally exciting will be the follow on from previous successful shooting games in the form of Extreme Hunting along with Ranger Mission, both to be shown in 33" cabinets. The odd titled "Dirty Pig Skin" promises to allow players the chance to play American Football in a novelty, almost comical environment. The four-player game can have players dressed as Blues Brothers or skeletons dodging lightning whilst trying to score! Not be missed however, is the much talked about and eagerly awaited SNK title "The King of Fighters" exclusively made for the Atomiswave system. Perhaps the most exciting element from the Sammy range will be the revolutionary electronic bulk-vending concept "Prize Party". The multi mech game allows the player to choose from a range of different vends up to the value of his credit and offers a unique bonus feature. The easy to fill vends heads are fully interchangeable and can accommodate a range of different sized capsules. Auditing and bonus percentage control is also available. To continue the novelty kids theme that is on the stand are Go-Go Cowboy and Across the World, the latter of which lets players drive all over the globe collecting points and gives players a prize every time. Sammy's Martin Riley said, "There is no doubt that visiting Sega and Sammy on stand NT41/42 is sure to be the most exciting this year and be a part of amusement history."
