Golden Tee Live Named AMOA Innovator Award Winner
For the second time in three years, Incredible Technologies (IT) was the recipient of the prestigious AMOA Innovator Award. The honor went to Golden Tee Live, the newest version of the incredibly popular video golf game that has swept the country since its debut in 1995. IT had previously won the award in 2002 for FACTS, the program that allows operators to conduct Golden Tee and Big Buck Hunter contests from the convenience of their office PC. The AMOA Innovator awards are presented each year at the AMOA International Expo held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre. They were established to recognize the efforts of coin-op manufacturers and suppliers in bringing exciting, new products to the market. Nominations were open to over 100 AMOA exhibitors. A panel of judges chosen by the AMOA examined the products and interviewed the designers. The award was presented to IT during the AMOA annual meeting on October 1st at the Las Vegas Hilton. "During the past four years, the Innovator Awards Program has evolved into a prestigious acknowledgement of the industry's best new products," said Jack Kelleher, Amusement & Music Operators Association Executive Vice President. "The AMOA congratulates Incredible Technologies on being only the second firm to receive this special honor more than once!" The 2004 AMOA International Expo marked the industry debut of Golden Tee Live. A highlight for many during the Expo, LIVE introduces a revolutionary new concept to the industry as the first coin-operated video game to offer "always online" wireless capabilities. Along with the most powerful hardware platform on the market, Live's innovative cabinet design and double flat panel monitors are just some of the groundbreaking features that earned it the prestigious honor. Golden Tee Live's always on wireless connection is made possible by an agreement with Sprint, the leading wireless provider in the country.
"It has always been our development strategy at Incredible Technologies to build games for players while paying careful attention to the needs of our industry," said Larry Hodgson, award-winning designer of Golden Tee and Vice President of Product Development. "Golden Tee Live with all of its new innovations is a perfect example of this. On the surface it will be a great entertainment product with new features that will attract old and new players alike. Beneath the surface lies a business model that is designed to make money for operators and fill their locations with players for a long, long time to come. Receiving the innovator award is an inspiration to our entire team as it helps confirm that our path is a good one," he said. Plans for a unique, 500-piece Golden Tee Live test is scheduled for November of 2004. Full production and national roll out is planned for the first quarter of 2005. "My partner, Richard Ditton, and I have always encouraged and supported innovation. We feel it is important to take risks that will help our industry advance and prosper," said Elaine Hodgson, CEO. "The entire product development group at IT: game design, hardware, software, database, communications, art, sounds, testing, and business development dreamed of better ways, solved difficult problems and worked long hours to create our wonderful games this year. Golden Tee Live embodies the finest effort yet seen from IT and our hope for a great future." Scott Morrison, IT's Vice President of Marketing said, "Golden Tee Golf is responsible for nearly $1 billion each year in game fees and food and beverage sales. Golden Tee Live is designed to keep the momentum going – players of all skill levels from around the world can't wait for it to arrive at their favorite location."
