Hollywood Bowl Debuts Europe's First Ghost Squad!
Sega Amusements Europe has delivered Europe's first Ghost Squad deluxe ahead of production into Hollywood Bowl's brand new Cribbs Causeway site. The new bowling site opened to the public on 1 November, 2004, but had a VIP launch weekend to showcase the site. As a part of this Sega agreed to allow operators, Leisure Link, to have the very first Ghost Squad ahead of the main production. The two player shooting game had its first UK showing at the recent London show, but the first two production runs were sold out prior to the Preview on the basis of its Jamma show appearance and word of mouth. John Daniel, Corporate Account Manager for Leisure Link, commented on having the very first Ghost Squad "This is another first for the UK's leading bowling operator, we are extremely happy to have this product here on such an important night as it demonstrates our continued commitment to the Hollywood brand." In addition to Ghost Squad, that features the new Player Smart Card technology allowing players to build on their success each time they play, Sega installed another Derby Owners Club; an increasingly common element of the machine mix in the bowls. Sega's UK Sales Manager Aaron Gilbey was happy to oblige Leisure Link in supporting the launch of the new bowl, adding, "As always, Sega is delighted to work with the Leisure Link team, and believe Ghost Squad is well positioned to perform in this environment. The product's unique selling point is its ability to appeal to both casual and core players." The next available Ghost Squad from production will be January. The night was concluded on the lanes with Leisure Link's Daniel narrowly beating the Sega representative by a few points.
