Merit Industries, Inc.'s annual January Freeze TournaMAXX competition beat the winter blues last month with hot tournament action in featured Megatouch games Box Drop and Mini Golf. Jon Klee took first place in Box Drop with an average score of 257, 240 at the Wing House in Akron, OH on a touch-screen from Bell Music. Jon just edged out James Markuson (2nd Place) who plays at Hank's in Belfair, WA - operated by Bears Amusements and Rich Horsely (3rd Place) playing at the AMF-South Hills in Cary, NC whose game operator is Raleigh Amusements. The winter weather kept Luvern Hanson off the links but, on the Megatouch Mini Golf Medieval course, Luvern took first place with a score of 63,297 at the Ortonville VFW in Ortonville, MN, operated by Games Unlimited/United Game. Second on the leader board was Craig Shaw who plays at Sloppy Joe's in Madison Heights, MI on a touch-screen from Nu-Way Vending.

Coming in third was Don Chilcott at Gecko's Pub & Grill in St. Clair Shores, MI on a game operated by Union Music Co. Tom Graham, Jr. of Games Unlimited/United Game said that Megatouch Tournaments foster competition and have been very successful for his business. "The right game really brings the players in and gets them excited about the tournament," Mr Graham said. Lee Ann Griffith set the Box Drop single game high score with a phenomenal 280,200. Lee Ann played at the Studio Lounge, which is operated by Merlin Amusements, Inc., in Lakeland, FL. "Box Drop is a really fun game. Adding the kick of playing against other people from all around the country makes it even better," said Ms Griffith. Dan Rhodes came in with a score of 64,114 to set the Megatouch Mini Golf single game high score at Pappy's in Arcola, IL on a game operated by Hartley Amusements, Inc. Bob Mills, Merit's Vice President of Marketing & Network Business said, "We would like to say thank you to all who participated – particularly our sponsors, who helped to make this event another great success."
