Mario Kart Coming to Coin-Op This Year
Namco has teamed together with Nintendo to bring the classic Mario racing game to coin-op with Mario Kart Arcade GP. The game premiered at last month's AOU show in Japan. Mario Kart Arcade GP is due to be released in Japan during Fall 2005, and will boast 24 courses and six different worlds for players to choose from. The machine features a camera above the monitor, known as a 'Nam Cam' which projects the players face onto the screen, as their chosen character (e.g. a player who chooses Mario will appear to be wearing his famous red hat and moustache on the screen display). Mario Kart Arcade GP will be linkable for up to four players and will also have a card reader system, so that players can save their photo and playing records and return to the game at a later time.
