G Star will be launched in November this year, the first Korean show for the amusement industry which will cover all game platforms from arcade to console to PC games with special highlights on online and mobile games. The show will be held from 10-12 November at the Korea International Exhibition Centre, and will see the existing three major game industry exhibitions that are held in Korea combined into a single, international trade show with an expected attendance of over 100,000 people.
The show was initiated by the Minister of Culture & Tourism and Minister of Information and Communications, with the Korea Game Development & Promotions Institute playing a leading role. The Korea Game Development & Promotions Institute supports game developers with advice, expenditure sharing, promotions and support. This has seen some major developments in the export of games (arcade, mobile phone, PC / XBOX, Playstation, and online). Another role of the government departments is to work together with game operators and manufacturers for local government policies which attempt to solve jointly issues such as what constitutes gaming and gambling, something that is currently a hot topic in Korea.
