Megatouch Tournament a Big Hit at This Year's ICMOA
ICMOA hosted its 20th Annual State Dart, Megatouch and Pool Tournament from 1-3 April, with the competition even fiercer this year as Merit Industries welcomed all players to compete in three different Megatouch tournaments for prizes and all-important bragging rights. "The ICMOA Annual Tournament just wouldn't be a success without Merit's Tournamaxx Tournament being involved. 2005 was no exception," said Adonna Jerman, Executive Director of the Illinois Coin Machine Operators Association. "Frequently there were people waiting for an open game as the popularity of this tournament continues. ICMOA appreciates Merit's continued participation and sponsorship in this event." In the Tournamaxx Tournament players competed over two days on six Megatouch EVO and six Elite Edge systems, generously provided by Merit authorised distributor American Vending Sales. Each tournament lasted for four hours, totaling over 500 tournament plays over the course of the weekend. At the end of each tournament, the machines were downloaded to the Merit server and results were announced within minutes.
Friday night kicked off the Card Bandits tournament, which was won by Brad Hunter of Vermont, IL and M&M Vending. Second place went to Michelle Petkus and third place to Randy Vandeuersen, both from Lindenhurst, IL. Saturday brought two Megatouch tournaments – 11 Ball and Megatouch Mini Golf. In the 11 Ball tourney Joe Cleavinger from Rushville, IL and M&M Vending took top honors. Chuck Whitt from Onarga, IL and ACS took second, while Steve Pavao from Leclaire, IA and Tri-County came in third. Megatouch Mini Golf was aced by Josh Simpson from Streator, IL and Metro Amusement. Angela Wharton from Herrin, IL and Action Amusement took second, and Sonya Summers from Winchester, IL and Triple Star came in third on the leader board. "Merit is proud to be a part of the ICMOA, and very pleased we could contribute to another great tournament," said Bob Mills, Merit's Vice President of Marketing & Network Businesses. "Thanks go out to all the operators and distributors, with special thanks to American Vending Sales for providing the EVO and Elite Edge systems."
