Namco Europe has started shipping Maximum Tune 2, the sequel to the original which made such a formidable impact on gamers when it was launched in Europe last summer. Retaining all of the high income credentials of the original, notably the highly popular memory cards, Maximum Tune 2 features six additional cars, ten new adversaries, a new ranking system, the legendary Hakone street racing circuit and the ability to link up to four playing positions. Described by Namco product manager, John Brennan as "as close to authentic hot 'modding' and 'rodding' as you can get," test income has exceeded that of its highly successful predecessor. Mr Brennan said, "The game offers a unique spin on street racing with players able to customise and fine tune their vehicles. Site owners are reporting a large community of players who see Maximum Tune as the ultimate test of their game playing abilities. There's no doubt that the reason this game continues to take the money that it does is in no small part due to the player loyalty engendered by the memory cards, which store a range of data covering up to 50 games, adding updates on the individual's competitive history, car modifications and upgrades."

The 'Maximum Tuning' memory cards are vended directly from the game for the cost of one credit and can be interchanged between both versions, adding another dimension to the Maximum Tune game playing experience. Sales and commercial director, John McKenzie said, "The successful returns from the game created such a demand that supplies from the production run of the first model were very quickly exhausted. So much so that Maximum Tune has become Namco's top earning driving game despite never having made an appearance at any UK trade show. With the launch of Maximum Tune 2 we are now in a position to offer an even greater prospect to operators who missed out the first time around as well as more of the same to those who still continue to reap the benefits from their earlier investment."
