A Faster Way to the Force
In response to operator feedback, Merit Industries announces a faster, simpler way to install Force platform updates. Beginning with Merit's Force 2006 update, which debuts at this year's AMOA show, all Force updates will be saying goodbye to CDs and moving onto DVDs. "Moving Force updates to DVDs will greatly benefit our operators," said Bob Mills, Merit's Vice President, Marketing & Network Business. "The updates will become quicker and easier, cutting our operators' service time and costs." DVD updates are faster because the disks read faster than CDs, which will make the update time significantly shorter. In addition, the DVDs hold more data, with a single disc holding 4.3 gig – (6.5 times the storage of a compact disc).

This allows the entire Force 2006 update to fit on just one DVD! The operator will no longer need to switch disks multiple times during an update, eliminating handling and delays. DVD readers are readily available at retail consumer electronic stores and online. DVD readers also read CDs, so whoever services the game will only need to bring one reader to update both Force and Maxx platforms, as Maxx will remain on CDs. In addition, both Force and Maxx software kits will be offered with or without hard drive. Additional information, including brands of DVD readers Merit recommends, will be available on Merit's website www.meritind.com.
