CA Extreme Arcade Collectors' Show This Weekend
The CA Extreme Arcade Collectors' show will be held this weekend on 6-7 August, an annual celebration of coin operated pinball machines, video games and other novelties once found in game arcades. The show will include tournaments, speakers, parts vendors, and an opportunity to play the games on display while they are set for free play. The Atari Film Festival returns with fresh footage unearthed from the archives featuring some great commercials and game test footage. Pinball creators Greg Dunlap, Ted Estes, and Steve Ritchie will be on hand to discuss game design.
There will also be a full lineup of speakers on topics ranging from history to restoration techniques, and expert players to reveal the tricks to getting phenomenal scores on both video and pinball machines. There will be parts and complete machines for sale, including Marco Specialties, Mario VanCleave (Pinthetic), and Don Mueting and Rob Hawkins from Pinball Collectors Resource. A number of different pinball tournaments along with some world record score attempts will also be featured.
