Deith Group Races the Sun!
A team comprising of Steve Bryant, Simon Hosken, Leon & Matthew Deith all of Deith Group based in Reigate will be embarking on a charity event called Race the Sun. Taking place on Saturday September 9 in the Lake District, the challenge consists of a 22 mile cycle ride, a climb of 2500ft up England's second highest mountain, Helvellyn, canoe 2 miles around Lake Thirlmere, finishing off with another cycle ride of 26 miles. All within a non-stop 12 hour period.

The team are attempting to raise money for Action Medical Research who are currently looking for answers to important issues such as premature birth, sickle cell disease, cerebral palsy, stroke, epilepsy, osteoporosis and a whole range of other diseases and conditions. Events such as Race the Sun organised by Action Medical Research have enabled them to be wholly or partly responsible for advances including: the first British polio vaccine, artificial hip replacement surgery, new treatments for epilepsy, specialised burn treatments for children, new tests into successful bone marrow transplants, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, discovering the importance of folic acid in the prevention of spina bifida and an infra-red brain scanner to help prevent damage in babies during labour and delivery, plus many, many more breakthroughs.

Calling themselves, The Arcade Classic's, the plan is to beat their best total raised of just over £8000 when they were part of the team taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge a few years ago. Steve said "All 4 of us are really looking forward to this challenge. Apparently last years record for Race the Sun was just over 6 and half hours, which I seriously doubt will be in any danger from us! Action Medical Research is a totally worthy cause and we hope to smash the £8000 raised when we did the Three Peaks in 2002." Matthew said "Our industry has long been associated with a variety of charities, giving money back to those less fortunate than ourselves. This challenge is a bit of fun for us, but with a serious purpose. We'll all be on the phone to our customers and suppliers twisting their arms for sponsorship."

Deith Group are looking for as many sponsors as possible to raise money for a great charity. If you wish to be a corporate sponsor or simply wish to pledge money, please call Steve at Deith Group on 01737 222 777 or e-mail at steve@deithgroup.com.
