Sega Amusement Europe has announced its combined product range on display at this year's London Preview will include video, vending, novelty, pushers, kids games and simulators. Sega disclosed its Preview stand will be dominated by the massive 'World Club Championship Football 2004-2005' (WCCF), although also on display will include the latest chapter of the classic arcade title House of the Dead 4, and the new Sega Lindbergh hardware which was launched at the JAMMA show in Tokyo last month. According to Sega Amusement Europe, the Lindbergh system is the most powerful the industry has ever seen and will allow arcades to "claw one back" on the ever advancing home market. Lindbergh's graphic capabilities have benefited the HOD title massively and allow the jump from third to fourth title to emulate the difference between early TV sets and modern plasma screens.
For HOD4, Sega has ditched the standard 50" PTV monitor that has become the stable viewing platform for all manufacturers' deluxe games since the early 90's. Instead visitors to the London Preview will witness an industry first with the introduction of a Digital Light Projector (DLP) monitor in 62" widescreen flat screen format. This mixture of new technology has also forced the requirement of a new deluxe cabinet ensuring that any game title using the new screen and hardware attracts attention in the arcade setting. Another first for Sega Amusement Europe will be the presence of a pusher on its show stand. Subject to final R&D works Sega is planning on previewing Disco Dream, an elaborate six-player centrepiece. The game features classic disco beats, 12 mini TV screens, dancing Divas, scrolling graphics and a massive glitter ball 'cash splash' feature. The Japanese R&D team that invented Mushiking have turned their attention to developing a title that is more suitable to European and American tastes. The recognition that Dinosaurs are more favourable amongst younger kids in Europe has led to the birth of Dinosaurking. Unusually, this second title in the card vending come collecting concept will be seen in Europe before it is in Japan where Mushiking is still the largest national craze for decades. Dinosaurking is more character led and cartoon in style than Mushiking and with more elaborate cards to collect.
World Club Championship Club Football 2004-2005 (WCCF) will be shown for the first time in the UK in English Language as part of its pan-European launch. Already popular in Japan and Italy where it was first launched in 2002 as WCCF Serie A 2002-03, the game will be available for the rest of Europe from November. The WCCF concept is a mix of Panini collectable trading cards of top players from around the world, Sega video expertise and a unique team management system that brings a brand new football experience to the arcade. The machine set up is an impressive multi player with either four or eight 'satellite' player terminals facing a massive main monitor. The latest 04-05 version will include European Championship teams such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Inter, Milan, Barcelona and Ajax for the first time. All of the players, 256 in total will appear as part of the game, and each have their own collectable Panini players card. The customer as 'Manager' gets the opportunity to train, coach and communicate with individual players pre and post match to build up the best team in Europe, using his 'Manager' or IC card to store the data. According to Sega Europe, the real 'wow' factor of WCCF is during the game play, when the chosen team player cards are laid on the pitch and with the use of a 'camera' players can be seen to move in real time on the screen as the customer moves the player cards.
