Tattersall's Takes Major Stake in Talarius plc
Talarius plc, the UK-based operator of Quicksilver high street Adult Gaming Centres (AGCs) and Cyberslotz online 'slot' casino, is pleased to announce that Tattersall's Limited (TTS.AX), one of the largest operators of lotteries and gaming machines listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX), has acquired a 10.1 per cent holding in the company at a price of 130p per share. Tattersall's Limited is capitalised at approximately AUS$2.4billion. Talarius listed on AIM in April 2005 with the intention of consolidating the fragmented AGC market. The team has already executed three major acquisitions, taking the total number of Adult Gaming Centres in the estate to 167. The Board regards Tattersall's international reputation as a potential benefit in the company's stated strategy of pursuing acquisitions in both the UK and in Europe.
Tattersall's was established in Australia in the 1880's by English migrant George Adams, and grew over the years to become Australia's largest private company, and one of the best known lottery operators in the world. Tattersall's Limited was listed on the ASX in July 2005 after restructuring the 100 year-old estate of the late George Adams. Apart from its lottery operations in Australia and South Africa, a licence issued by the State of Victoria permits Tattersall's to operate 13,750 electronic gaming machines located in pubs and clubs.
