Presentation Of Third Mary Openshaw Memorial Award For Excellence
The winner of the third Mary third Mary Openshaw Memorial Award for Excellence is Hans Rosenzweig, former President of Euromat and it was presented to him as a result of his decision to retire from active life in the gaming industry and in the Euromat representation.

He joins previous winners Eduardo Antoja, President of Euromat & Mike Nevin, Managing Director of Namco Europe. The award to Hans was presented by Eduardo Antoja on 18 May 2006 in Brussels, Belgium, on the occasion of a dinner for Euromat members offered by the Belgian Association UBA.

IAEA (Irish Amusement Equipment Association) Secretary, Martin Dempsey said: "It is appropriate that we are presenting this award to Hans Rosenzweig in Brussels, where Mary Openshaw lived for most of her career in the amusement industry and also because Hans started his career in the amusement industry as a journalist.

The purpose of the award is to remind us of Mary and the contribution she made to the international amusement industry as a journalist. The award itself is a piece of Irish crystal to remind us where Mary spent her retirement years.

Finally, this is an Award For Excellence - the excellence with which Hans Rosenzweig contributed to Euromat; the excellence which typified Mary's life and indeed the excellence which we seek in our own lives!"

Eduardo Antoja, President of Euromat said: "I am particularly happy that Hans Rosenzweig is presented with this award now, after he decided to retire from active life in the gaming industry and in the Euromat representation.

Hans Rosenzweig thanked Eduardo Antoja and Martin Dempsey for the award. He said he remembered Mary Openshaw well. She had been an established journalist in the industry when he joined it.

He had taken advice from her - advice he still passes on to others. Mary was a well known journalist in the industry and was highly thought of and respected by everyone she came in contact with.
