New Technology Virtual Queue-line
The United Kingdom leads the way in the development of a new generation of theme park and visitor attraction queuing technology linked to visitors' mobile phones. Monkwood Technologies Limited, have developed CellQ, ground-breaking technology that allows a venue to organise their attraction queue line, and at the same time allow guests to spend more time experiencing the entertainment venues services rather than standing bored in a queue.
The system has been over three years in development, and involves the use of the mobile phone text messaging in conjunction with barcoded wristbands to inform the registered users the length of the queue-line for the venues attractions. With this the user can select an attraction they want to ride, be allotted a time so they can avoid standing in a queue but go off and enjoy the other services of the park, swiping themselves through to ride the chosen attraction at the appropriate time.
For the theme park operator the wristbands offer a way to track guests movement through attractions, along with their selection to ride. The CellQ technology offers an effective means to notify guests of the operational status of various rides, and also any possible issues or special offers available. For the user, the technology linked to mobile phone texting capability can be used to reunite member of a party if they should get lost.
Described by many as a ‘Virtual Queuing'' system, CellQ offers the ability to increase secondary spend around the venue as guests do not have to be statically placed in a queue outside the attraction. The information retained about their visit is protected by the company and the instantaneous sending of guest text messages is secured by the specialist CellQ infrastructure that supports the installed system.
