Bally Pong gains approval from Nevada gambling regulators
Nevada gambling regulators have approved the concept behind Bally Technologies latest product, Bally Pong. The product combines regular elements of slot machines with Atari's 1972 classic Pong, with the machine entering a 45 second game of Pong after three bonus icons line up on the five-reel video slot machine.
The product would for the first time allow hand-eye co-ordination to affect payout. Bally said that Bally Pong was the first in a series of skill games it has planned, with popular game Breakout also likely to be included in the future.
The Nevada Gaming Commission approved the game on the condition that the bonus round offer a payout regardless of how well the player does in the Pong game, and according to Bally, the difference in payout between the best player and the worst is roughly seven percent of the total amount wagered. "No matter how badly you do, you're always going to get a minimum award," said Bally vice president Mark Lerner, who demonstrated the game at the commission meeting.
