Chicago Gaming Company this week announced the release of a new video ticket redemption game. The game, SpongeBob's Bikini Bottom Bowling, is officially licensed by Nickelodeon and features characters from the hit TV show.
Players choose from SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Mr.Krabbs, Squidward or Plankton and roll a ball down the on-screen lane, with tickets rewarded based upon the number of pins knocked over. If a strike is rolled, play continues, and if the player manages three strikes in a row the ticket jackpot is awarded.
"Because SpongeBob's Bikini Bottom Bowling is intuitive, players will quickly understand gameplay," Drew Maniscalco, vice-president of sales stated. "The challenge is to try for the ticket jackpot which typically requires multiple coin play."
The game was originally exhibited at the 2007 ASI show, with the Chicago Gaming Company planning to release the game immediately after the show. However the operator input received at the show prompted the company to delay production to further enhance the game.
"A common opinion was that we should add a ‘Spare' feature," Maniscalco stated. "Since no one knows players better than operators we took the suggestions seriously. It was decided to delay production and create the ‘Spare' feature. So, while we may be late for the summer, I guess we're early for the fall!"
