As part of a new strategic initiative, from 2009 Fun Expo will be held in the Spring and will be held alongside the Amusement Showcase International (ASI) exhibition. Fun Expo was previously held in the Fall, and was co-located with the AMOA International Expo. The announcement was made during the AAMA Gala, with AAMA President Mike Rudowicz informing attendees about the ASI-Fun Expo co-location in 2009. A signing ceremony took place following the announcement to make the co-location official.
Fun Expo is owned by Leisure & Entertainment Trade Shows (LETS), a joint venture formed by AAMA, AMOA and IALEI in 2000 when Fun Expo was purchased from Reed Expositions.
LETS Chairman Harold Skripsky remarked, "The thought of moving Fun Expo to the Spring has been discussed many times over the years with the LETS Board." Skripsky added, "While we have been extremely pleased with our relationship with AMOA and its show, we also look forward to new opportunities and a close working relationship with AAMA and the ASI show in the Spring of 2009."
In 2008, Fun Expo will be co-located with the AMOA International Expo in Las Vegas, with the first co-located Spring ASI-Fun Expo event taking place in Las Vegas in 2009.
