Adventure Landing of Jacksonville, Fla., is the new owner of All Star Adventures and All Star Sports.

Longtime All Star general manager Tom Smith, who used to be over both locations and now manages the east side exclusively, is thrilled.

He's looking forward to ''just a lot of maintenance and fix-up that hasn't been done over the last few years.''

''These guys are known for a lot of landscaping and just really making things look nice,'' Smith says. ''These guys do a lot of promotions. They do a lot of events.''

Adventure Landing has 10 other parks nationally.

All Star Adventures had its start in Wichita as Sports World in the late 1980s.

As a family entertainment center, it offered miniature golf, batting cages and go-carts.

All Star Sports had been Wichita Family Golf.

The Cornejo family bought both All Star locations in 2001. In 2005, the Cornejos added an amusement park at All Star Adventures.

California-based Zuma Fun Centers bought the All Stars in 2007, but Smith says the economy proved difficult and Zuma wanted to sell.

''Obviously, things just (weren't) going well,'' he says.

In addition to upgrades, Smith says the All Star Adventures driving range, which has been closed for a year, will reopen.

All Star Adventures is on 22 acres. All Star Sports is on about 10 acres.

Smith says there won't be any immediate additions to either location to announce, but he is encouraged for the future.

''I'm just looking forward to the change.''
