Recently, an original title from Namco Bandai Games, Sonic Storm, has been testing on location in the USA. An original title is always exciting, and although little is known about the game at the moment, there are some details that have been shared by the public.
Sonic Storm is an aerial combat game in which players take on the role of a jet fighter flying over cities like Miami and Tokyo trying to take out enemy jets.
The cabinet has a cockpit look to it, as players must open and step through the door to enter the game area and take a seat inside the cabinet - which looks similar to the domed, clear cockpit you would expect to see on a real fighter jet.
Other features include a large domed display screen, which covers your entire field of vision, and simulation features such as fans that blow into your face to add the sensation of speed to create a highly immersive game.
Your jet fighter is equipped with a machine gun and missiles, and the game is score based. Players score combos for taking down multiple enemies in quick succession, as well as a 'Quick Kill' bonus, a machine gun bonus (a bonus you receive for taking down enemies with your machine gun) and a 'Clean Kill' bonus. At the end of the game players receive a military ranking based off their score and commentary on their skill.
Unfortunately, there are still many questions about the game and hopefully some more details will emerge soon. More news to follow.
