According to the media release The Explorer "will provide a unique experience for visitors to parks and other attraction destinations" by making use of HUSS' "years of experience in the design and manufacture of observation towers, combining an audio visual system and sensory elements that together provide an immersive experience in a totally enclosed environment."
The attractions features will include:
- a circular gondola, 12 meters in diameter, which can accommodate 70 guests (including wheelchair users).
- a themed pre-show in the queuing area based on the core content of the ride taking place.
- waiting guests will be able to watch the gondola descend into the 'earth' and out-of-sight beneath a closed iris.
- A 'seamless' 360 degree multi-projector film format which "delivers truly immersive content which is unique to each installation.
- Guests are seated in the closed cabin facing outwards through full height glass sides, allowing unrestricted viewing.
- Guests enjoy can enjoy a wide range of environments , including under the sea, in space, in the eye of a storm, and other spectacular scenes of nature. Being a film based attraction, the experience can be almost anything the operator chooses from a "calm, scenic journey to a white knuckle thrill ride".
- Content can be CGI made or live action or a composition of both, this flexibility is a key benefit of the system.
- Ride is simple and cost effective with only the media needing replacement.
More and more we are starting to see attractions and rides like this coming out that fall into the 4D/5D, simulator category which is all about creating a highly immersive experience for guests and offering them something so uniquely different to what they could ever put in their own home. Hopefully, we will hear more about this development in the near future.
