TouchTunes hosted a 15th birthday celebration for itself last week at the Marquee Club in Las Vegas on the eve of Amusement Expo 2013 where they thanked is operators and partners, and announced plans to launch a service called TouchTunes Presents - a concert web-casting service that live streams concerts to jukebox locations.
TouchTunes Presents is launching as part of a partnership with recording artist Jimmy Buffet, and CEO Charles Goldstick has confirmed that the first live show will be a Buffet concert which will be streamed in May.
Buffet appeared on a special TouchTunes video commenting that as a young man he used to collect quarters from a jukebox in his uncle's bar in Pascagoula, Mississippi. "I also got to play the jukebox while I cleaned the bar," said Buffet, recounting his lifelong affection for the jukebox.
Goldstuck took the opportunity to thank TouchTunes the hundreds of operator partners in attendance on the day. "You were there right from the beginning when this was a tough sell, and you stuck with us. Fortunately many of you share our pioneer spirit. Our innovation will continue unabated," said Goldstuck.
The jukebox heavyweight also honored investor Alan Salzman of VnatagePoint Capital Partners for providing crucial resources to develop its current line-up of products, including TouchTunes Presents.
Looking back Salzman commented, "Fifteen years ago, the concept of a digital jukebox was a novel concept... This celebration is about what we have accomplished together."
TouchTunes launched in 1998 with 750 licensed songs. Today, the network boasts over 3, 000, 000 licensed songs and nearly 60, 000 digital jukeboxes on location.
