Sega's Super Booth at Cruis Shipping Miami 2013
Sega recently wowed crowds at last month's 29th Annual Cruise Shipping Miami trade show when they exhibited eight of their most popular and high earning machines.
2013 Cruise Shipping Miami attracted more than 12, 000 attendees during the 3 day exhibition, and featured more than 900 exhibiting companies from 123 countries presenting much chance for overseas partnership and showcasing cultural diversity. That's over 60% of the world's 196 countries creating what looked like a mini United Nations.
Sega's booth was a destination for attendees excited to sample the company's latest pay-for-play games selected to be showcased specifically for this location base. The games on exhibition were Super Booth, Dream Raiders 55" 2 Player Motion DLX, Operation G.H.O.S.T. 42" 2 Player DLX, GRID 42" DLX, Key Master, Bejeweled and Crazy Cuckoo.
Responses towards the machines, in particular to Super Booth and Key Master, was excellent. Sales Manager, Tom Keil, said "Our line-up of games was enthusiastically received by attendees... As more families take to cruising, we've seen an increase in the size of the arcade and gaming venues on contemporary cruise liners."
Coverage on the trade show by CBS, for Channel 4 News at 5, also featured coverage of Sega's Super Booth. Meanwhile, the popularity of Key Master speaks for itself according to General Manager, Peter Gustafson.
"The reports of the popularity of Key Master on Cruise Ships were simply unbelievable... We were told by arcade managers that Key Master is getting more than 800 plays a day which represents nearly 100& utilization - as soon as one games ends, another one begins."
The popularity of Key Master on Cruise Ships is further demonstrated by the multiple calls Sega receives at it's office from cruise goers every week.
"We get calls every week from people that have nothing to do with the pay-fro-play amusement industry who saw the enthusiastic crowds around Key Master during their cruise and want to know how they can start operating some themselves. These are construction workers, truck drivers, accountants, home makers, etc. not pay-for-play professionals. They're so excited about the fame and the opportunities they see possible that after getting home they actually take the time to Google Key Master on the internet to find us. The only time Tom or I have ever witnessed this kind of excitement for pay-for-play amusements was when Space Invaders came out,"said Gustafson, "For us, that says everything you need to know about the popularity of Key Master."
