6D Rhino Rescue Attraction Ride
Franklin Park Zoo in Boston recently debuted new 6D thrill ride, Rhino Rescue. The ride is set in Africa and takes visitors on a high-speed chase alongside park rangers in their pursuit to to rhino poachers.
The 6D attraction includes effects such as motion simulator seats which precess up to 400 movements per second, as well as wind, light and 3D visual effects.
"We are excited to offer this incredible opportunity to our visitors," said John Linehan, Zoo New England President and CEO. "We live in a technology driven world and Rhino Rescue is a great complement to the zoo experience by combining state-of-the-art technology with a conservation driven message in a fun, dynamic and memorable way. Everyone who has tried it has come out with a similar reaction of 'Wow! That was cool!'"
The ride accommodates twelve people at a time and lasts about four minutes. Tickets cost $4USD for zoo members and $5USD for non-members, and a small percentage of each ticket sold will go towards supporting rhino conservation in the wild.
More and more we are seeing large scale recreational institutions such as zoo and museums turning to the amusement industry for attraction solutions. Edutainment is becoming the go-to for these place to entertain visitors, but more importantly to engage them in important issues and is helping to educate the next generation in new and exciting ways.
