Theo Sanders has been appointed CEO of LAI Games, and will be based inside the company’s Singapore head office. He is new to the coin operation games industry, but he has extensive experience in the consumer and online games industry and was most recently at Ubisoft in Singapore leading the company’s move into the direct-to-consumer space with Ghost Recon Online, one of Ubisoft’s major video game brands.

Before Ubisoft, Mr Sanders was the Global Director of Products at Razer managing the industrial design, product development and technology teams to launch more than twenty high-end computer peripherals. He has held a number of developmental roles over the course of his career, including helping to create BlizzCon for Blizzard Entertainment and a stint at an early tech start-up in the Smart Electric Meter business.

LAI Group Adam Steinberg said, “Apart from his extensive business experience, I believe Theo will be a perfect fit for the LAI Group and I look forward to the great contribution he can make. Over the coming months, Theo will be attempting to take in as much information as he can and travelling around to meet with staff and customers so that he can formulate new plans to take the business forward."

What this says about the intentions of LAI Games and their position within the amusement industry in the future is unclear. To hire a CEO with no experience in this particular niche of the amusement industry is an interesting choice, and considering his extensive experience as a developer in computer and online gaming it leaves much to be speculated. Does this signal LAI Games is moving away from coin operated amusement machines? Will they be making a stronger move towards online and PC gaming as opposed to social arcade gaming? We can only wait and see.
