Megatouch, LLC
Megatouch, LLC has just recently announced that it will be officially closing it's doors after 35 years in the industry. Breaking News from the Stinger Report #904. The company made its last announcement in December, with the news of a new software release for their Megatouch Live Software Update V3.4.4.
With 150+ games, its popular Tournamaxx system, and a claimed installed base of over 50,000 networked touchscreens, Megatouch had won devoted fans over the world. Emerging following the acquisition of Merit Industries and Rowe International from Harbour Group, by AMI Entertainment Network in 2009, the company in 2013 became their own business system, in their own legal entity, separating from AMI, to become Megatouch LLC as part of a corporate restructuring started two years ago. The interactive entertainment sector of the hospitality industry has seen considerable upheaval with companies such as ECAST and uWink falling by the wayside.
It was reported that Megatouch plans to sell all its' retained inventory towards closure. Megatouch will provide limited technical support, honor its product warranties, and offer system parts to support warranty work and non-warranty to the extent possible.
Tournamaxx will continue in its current form at least through 2014 and all Megatouch Live systems will be converted to stand-alone terminals that no longer require connectivity. It was confirmed that all plans seen at IAAPA'13 to go forward with the Megatouch redemption plans have now been abandoned.
