GameRoom Essentials was a popular local destination in this Adelaide suburb of Gepps Cross until it was shut down after being deemed a fire risk, however, with crowdfunding support for relocation, owner Danny Daly may be able to open it's doors once again.
Reluctant to see the arcade go away, local officials and individuals have since mounted an aggressive campaign to relocate the coin-op venue.
"The support from people I don't even know, who haven't even been to GameRoom is just incredible, especially those who are offering financial assistance or helping us to move," Daly told a local reporter.
To date, the odds are looking good for GameRoom Essentials' relocation, with an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign has raised more than $3,500 and support from local councils pushing to have a venue located.
Salisbury council member, David Balaza, has reportedly been pushing for a relocatin to his district as he believes the business could thrive there due to the number of Gameroom Essentials customers that come from the northern suburbs. Meanwhile, Playford council's economic development officer is reported to have made contact with Mr Daly to point out some options for restarting the business.
Mr Daly's hopes are clearly high as he updated the Indiegogo site, "We have 5 councils searching for a new place for us. With support from Prospect, Charles Sturt, Salisbury, Playford and Port Adelaide we will find a BETTER venue than our current".
It's great to see this level of support for an Australian arcade, considering what a nieche market arcade and amusement is in Australia. Best of luck to Mr Daly in his endeavor to relocate Gameroom Essentials and if you'd like to help him out you can check out the
Indiegogo campaign, but be quick as there is only 4 days left!
