School of Ragnarok is a new fighter game from Square Enix which was offically released on August 27 and is now operating in arcades across Japan!
This new game is an online 1vs1 tactical "5D" action game, which combines fighting and RPG elements together to create a unique and thrilling game. The cabinet can link to second cabinet as well for on-location battles too!
Players enter the game as a student at one of the game's schools, and battle other custom characters and even School Guardians (which are playable characters). Players can level up their characters, get loot and item drops, and use them to keep customising their characters.
Players compete each other and they can customise their character appearance, costumes, weapons and statistics. The "5D" feature is a mix of 2D and 3D perspectives during the fight.
Depending on the school, the player's weapons and “school guardian” will change. Other playable school guardians include Valhallades (Fumihiko Tachiki), Lucy (Chiaki Takahashi), Urushihara Ukiyo (Yūma Uchida), and Star Cook (Tomoko Kaneda).
The School of Ragnarok staff is very impressive: Takamasa Shiba (Lord of Vermillion, Drakengard) is the producer, Kazutaka Kodaka (Danganronpa) is in charge of the world setting and scenario, the character design is from Kimihiko Fujisaka (Drakengard, Terra Battle) and the music is composed by Keiichi Okabe (Nier). The winner of the official School of Ragnarok tournament will win 1 million Yens!
