The Macao Gaming Show 2015 will launch a new special business program for local SMEs, a 'Local Procurement Promotion' center, at this year's exhibition at the Venetian Macao on November 17-19, 2015, as part of its efforts to help drive trade to the city's business community.
The initiative, which has been conducted in association with the government department, Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), will see an entire Macao Pavilion constructed on the MGS showfloor where the region's six primary gaming operators will take up residence to outline all the service contracts that are open to local businesses to pitch for.
The exhibition space is around 400 square meters and has been provided free of charge courtesy of support from the influential trade association MGEMA which is backing the campaign to offer special priority to the procurement of local products.
During the three days of the Macao Gaming Show, special seminars will be conducted by the major gaming concessionaires in the city to introduce their procurement policies to local small to medium sized businesses. The MGEMA funded center will offer the opportunity for the city's gaming companies to explain how the procurement plan will run and to discuss the key product and service areas the operators will be sourcing: notably gaming products, hotel operation supplies, food and beverage products, furniture and fixtures.
Secretary General of the MGEMA, Fatima Maria Nunes, explained the initiative: "The Local Procurement Pavilion is an exciting way to draw our local business community into the ambitions of the Macao Gaming Show. We want all of Macao's businesses to benefit from the show, not just through its access to the international arena, but also from the domestic market. MGEMA and the key gaming operators have all signed up to government's drive to diversify the economy and, more importantly, to support our local businesses. Our association, for example, has been pushing the messages of "Made in Macao" and "Designed in Macao" for some time now, and we want to extend this concept through the pavilion. The gaming operators are fully behind the scheme and, hopefully, through this unified push we can really make a difference to the development of the local business community."
Part of the MGEMA strategy to support local procurement will be a special local advertising and marketing campaign targeted at the SMEs in Macau. Fatima Maria Nunes added: "We all take our social responsibilities very seriously and supporting the development of local enterprises is really important for us. There is so much quality in Macao and that needs to be nurtured - the pavilion is one option - as is the opportunity for local businesses to engage with our international visitors as well. There are large numbers of incredibly creative, innovative young business people out there in the city, and the local Procurement Pavilion is one element of what will hopefully be a bigger plan."
The Local Procurement Promotion Center at this year's Macao Gaming Show has been launched by the MGEMA to align with the Macau SAR Government's policy to diversify the economy and support local small-to-medium sized enterprises, and provide a boost to the local manufacturing industry and young entrepreneurs. The program is supported by the city's gaming operators who have established a mechanism to support local industry through the procurement of goods and services.
MGS will cover its six traditional gaming industry segments; Gaming Equipment and Accessories, Gaming Promoters (Junkets) and VIP Clubs, Casino Fixtures and Fittings, Promotional Services and Memorabilia, Food and Beverage and Entertainment and Performance. In addition, special pavilions and zones will be allocated to new sectors from the broader service and complementary industries. Taking place at the Venetian Macao, MGS 2015 will have a floor area of over 10,000 m2 with an estimated 100+ exhibitors and circa 10,000+ buyers coming from across the world.
