The Euro Attractions Show (EAS) 2015 was held for the first time in Scandinavia in Gothenburg, Sweden, Oct. 6-8, and attracted thousands of amusement industry professionals who came to see the latest developments in the amusement park, attractions and leisure industries.
Karen Staley, Senior Vice-President for IAAPA EMEA, said, "Going north was a good idea; EAS 2015 performed above expectations. The location of Liseberg right next to the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre provided attendees with a fully integrated park and expo experience. This made the entire event inspiring, hands-on, and very enjoyable for all attendees." Liseberg is one of the most well known amusement parks in Europe.
Throughout the presentations and speeches the event focused on current market conditions, global trends impacting the market, and factors that present new growth opportunities for European operators. From many reports of the show, there also appears to have been a lot of discussion about increasing competitiveness with the bigger resort theme park locations, such as you will find in Orlando or Dubai.
Approximately 7,000 visitors attended the expo. They came from 96 countries with 30 percent from Scandinavia and a large number from Eastern Europe. An extensive educational program featured more than 30 hours of seminars presented by leading speakers from the industry. EAS 2016 will take place in Barcelona, Spain, Sept. 20-22.
